Buying and selling second hand archery kit has become increasingly popular over recent years and for good reason – archery is a sport that requires considerable investment – from the bow, to the arrows and every other accessory you never thought you needed, the costs can quickly add up. As social media has become increasingly restrictive over the selling of archery kit, it’s important now more than ever, that archers have a dedicated marketplace where they can sell their kit without censorship. So with hundreds of archers competing for buyers on Sell My Bow; how do you create the perfect listing so you really stand out? Here are our top tips for becoming a super seller on the Sell My Bow marketplace…
- Spruce up your kit – make sure your item is clean and in good condition. Remove any unsightly marks and grime and make sure to note any cosmetic damage. This will not only make your equipment look better but it will make it easier to sell.
- Determine the value of your kit – consider its condition, age and brand and check what similar items are selling for so you can price your listing competitively. Be realistic, but figure out the minimum amount you’d like to get.
- Take high quality photos – Photos increase sales so make sure the lighting is good and the background is uncluttered, sometimes a striking background such as a target face can really catch buyers’ attention too. Take photos from different angles to show your item’s features and think about what you would like to see if you were buying it.
- Write a detailed description – be as specific as possible, include the brand, model and specifications/ measurements of your item. Outline any accessories included in the sale and the features and colours unique to your kit as these will be good selling points. If there are any flaws or damage be sure to mention it; this is just as much for your protection as it is for buyers – nobody wants to be involved in a dispute. Buyers won’t necessarily be put off by a less than perfect item, just make sure your price reflects what you’re selling.
- State your shipping preferences - Whether you prefer to sell locally and have a buyer collect in your area or at a tournament or whether you prefer to ship your item domestically or internationally; you should state your preference in your listing. Buyers can then be more informed about their choices and you won't get any unnecessary interest in your listing.
- Use keywords in your title – When creating your listing make sure you use keywords that potential buyers might be searching for. You don’t want a vague title that doesn’t specify what you’re selling because a buyer will be less likely to click on it. For example if your selling a bow include the manufacturer and model name; this will also help your listing to show up in search results when potential buyers are looking for a similar item.
- Share it – Once you have added your listing to Sell My Bow, it’s important to share the link on your social media channels to generate a buzz. You could even get your friends to share the link so your listing reaches a wider audience.
- Be responsive and accommodating to buyers – it’s important to respond to any messages promptly and helpfully; this will help build up trust with potential buyers and increase the likelihood of a sale. Potential buyers may have questions about the items condition, delivery options or other details - it’s important to answer them honestly and accurately and be willing to negotiate on price.
- Sale complete – Well done you’ve successfully sold your item; now make sure you mark it as sold as soon as you receive payment. To say thank you we’ll award you a gold star; collecting these helps buyers to recognise our most successful sellers. Your item will appear as sold on the marketplace for one week to let buyers know it’s no longer available.
And that’s it – with a little bit of effort and some attention to detail you can sell your kit quickly and easily on archery’s only pre-loved marketplace. Remember that by selling you kit on Sell My Bow, you’re not only clearing out your space and making a little money but you’re also contributing to a more sustainable and affordable future for our sport. So take a look in your kit bag or workshop and see what items you no longer need or use – it’s a win-win situation.
Happy Selling!
